Executive Summary

This report compares the perception of mobile apps by professionals in operations roles with those in environment, health and safety (EHS) to assist technology vendors to better align their strategy with different user requirements and enable customers to benchmark their thinking. To provide these insights, we analysed 382 interviews of EHS decision-makers (see Verdantix Global EHS Leaders Survey 2017: Budgets, Priorities & Tech Preferences) and 221 operations decision-makers (see Verdantix Operational Risk Leaders Survey 2018: Budgets, Priorities & Tech Preferences). While 37% of EHS decision-makers expect to use mobile apps across multiple facilities, 55% of operations decision-makers do not see mobile as significant. To further contrast the two job functions, when evaluating software 84% of EHS decision-makers consider mobile applications very important and important, while only 54% of operations decision-makers think the same. There are also importance variances at the geographic level with stronger preference for mobile among European users.
