Executive Summary

On February 26, 2018, IWMS vendor Planon announced it had acquired the CAFM software business conjectFM from Aconex, a provider of software solutions for the construction and infrastructure industries. To learn more about the rationale behind the deal and implications for customers, Verdantix interviewed Pierre Guelen, CEO at Planon, and Jos Knops, Director Product Marketing at Planon. The acquisition covers all of conjectFM’s software, 200 customers and 45 employees. The deal provides Planon with (i) a CAFM software product that is especially competitive in the mid-market; and (ii) a stronger position in the DACH market for facilities management software. Verdantix finds this is a notable addition for Planon because it significantly boosts its competitive positioning for medium-sized organizations and will help it defend against smaller competitors.
