Executive Summary

In April 2025 Verdantix published a Smart Innovators report assessing the tenant engagement and user experience software landscape (see Verdantix Smart Innovators: Tenant Engagement And User Experience Software). This report builds on that foundation by introducing the experience operating system (XOS) – a connected software and data layer that manages the end-to-end occupant journey across offices, hotels, campuses and retail environments. The report uses a five-stage occupant journey framework as a shared reference for that life cycle, drawing on this, alongside the broader XOS capability layers, to highlight where each asset class is most advanced and where structural gaps remain. It also identifies the automation and integration capabilities that separate current platforms from a fully realized XOS, and examines how market consolidation is reshaping vendor strategy and buyer behaviour. Software vendors, corporate real estate leaders and asset owners can use this report to benchmark their experience technology investments against the XOS framework and identify the capabilities that will define the next phase of the market, shaping how occupants perceive the buildings in which they live, work and visit.
