Executive Summary

This report is one of a series in which Verdantix identifies specific topics that EHS executives should understand and for which they should start to develop strategies and align resources. This particular Verdantix study is a spin-off from the recently published report Best Practices For EHS Software Implementation Services. Verdantix finds large enterprise firms (with more than $1billion in revenue) tend to employ multi-stage implementation strategies for global EHS software deployment as this method provides a higher likelihood for success. To help EHS and IT executives with outlining each phase of rollout, Verdantix outlines six strategic questions, including how much importance is attributed to the ability to trend firm-wide data from the same baseline date on the new system. This question plays a critical role in identifying the best-fit multi-stage approach: modular rollouts on a global scale, regional rollouts or business unit rollouts. This report also contrasts three scenarios of a firm’s level of preparation before kicking off phase one of implementation.
