Executive Summary

This report focuses on the 2019 spending plans of operations, plant and maintenance managers on operational risk initiatives, with a comparison between those based in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and those based in North America. Chief marketing officers and sales leaders can use this report to target areas of high spend. During May and June 2018, Verdantix conducted interviews with 221 directors and managers in operations, production, maintenance and safety roles in relation to operational risk management. The spending plan question formed part of this broader survey. The survey data indicate that on a variety of initiatives between 9% and 26% of EMEA operations managers plan to increase their spend on operational risk initiatives by over 10% in 2019 compared to 2018. Across the same operational risk initiatives, between 3% and 10% and operations managers in North America plan to increase spend by 10% or more.
