Executive Summary

This report provides a detailed fact-based comparison of the 17 most prominent operational risk management (ORM) software vendors. Based on the proprietary Verdantix Green Quadrant methodology, the analysis is based on two-hour live product demonstrations with pre-set scenarios and vendor responses to a 211-point questionnaire. To understand customer needs Verdantix conducted interviews with 16 software users from three countries, mainly representing high-risk industries such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, chemicals and construction and reviewed the data from a survey of 211 operations decision-makers. The analysis finds that the current operational risk management software market is populated with vendors with a variety of product strategies. Priority technology investments for customers over the next two years will focus on implementation of ORM software and its integration with IT systems and edge devices. The analysis of the software capabilities and market momentum of the vendors reveals that three vendors—eVision, Enablon and Petrotechnics—currently lead the market, whilst the other vendors have strong capabilities in specific areas such as control of work, barrier risk management, mechanical integrity and process safety management.
