Executive Summary

This report provides buyers of contractor safety management software with an overview of the current state of the market and an assessment of 18 vendors with the most comprehensive software and services offerings. Managers involved in selecting providers of contractor safety solutions include those in EHS, operations, procurement and sourcing. The study also provides executives at vendors with an understanding of how their capabilities stack up relative to their competitors across 12 different assessment criteria. Verdantix finds that there are five categories of contractor safety management vendors that offer four high-level capabilities for managing contractors. There are three strategies that hiring clients can employ for managing contractor safety, these are: focusing on low-cost approaches to mitigating the most obvious risks; obliging contractors to use digital tools which improve safety performance; and integrating organizational, site-level and individual controls to create a water-tight system.
