Executive Summary

This report provides corporate facilities management executives with guidance on how they can leverage new and existing smart building technologies to respond to immediate and short-term challenges caused by the COVID-19 virus. The current situation sees many commercial buildings across Europe, India and North America temporarily closed under government-enforced lockdowns, with only facilities enabling public services open. Firms across China and Singapore are slowly bringing employees back to offices as new COVID-19 cases dwindle in the regions. This report sets out how firms can use smart building technologies to improve infection control in buildings and manage their empty buildings to control costs. This forms part of a series of reports analysing how businesses can leverage their technology estate to support their business’ response to the COVID-19 crisis.
