Executive Summary

Since 2012, technological change has impacted the property sector in similar ways to financial technology (fintech) in the financial sector and insurance technology (insuretech) in the insurance sector (see Verdantix Proptech Investors Aim To Force A Digital Revolution On The Real Estate Industry). Between 2012 and 2017, proptech funds invested over $6 billion. In 2018, this trend has accelerated, with over $4 billion invested so far. This report analyses these investments across six major areas. It also evaluates their likely immediate impact on the vast real estate sector that has traditionally been slow to adopt innovation. Heads of product development and marketing for software vendors, as well as heads of real estate in corporate firms, should use this report to keep abreast of the trends that will impact their industry in the next three years.
