Executive Summary
Across the real estate, energy and facilities information management (REEFIM) market, suppliers are racing to develop propositions that effectively leverage the latest technology trend – the Internet of Things (IoT). Verdantix interviewed Erik Jaspers, Product Strategy and Innovation Officer at Planon, to discover more about Planon’s strategy for the IoT and its latest generation of applications launched in January 2017. We heard that Planon’s set of applications are built on the Amazon Web Services global IoT platform and Planon has developed offerings across: 1) occupant tracking, 2) energy management, 3) just-in-time maintenance, 4) occupant well-being and 5) tracking end-user experience. Verdantix finds that Planon is taking advantage of the IoT faster than many of its integrated workplace management systems (IWMS) peers, with the backing of a well-funded R&D function. In the near-term our analysis finds three types of customer that could benefit from Planon’s IoT applications: organizations with activity-based working strategies, those looking to maintain the performance of high efficiency buildings and IWMS users looking for greater insight into energy consumption.
