EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This report explores the key trends that will impact the real estate, energy and facilities information management (REEFIM) market in 2017. The scope covers a range of software categories that come together when managing real estate, such as integrated workplace management systems, computerised maintenance and management systems and energy management software. It builds on ongoing Verdantix research into software for optimizing real estate and facilities, including interviews we conducted with over 250 energy and facility managers in 2016, and our recent interviews with business leaders at over 30 software vendors. The analysis finds that whilst the REEFIM market is now mature across some areas, software vendors will be busy in 2017 with more M&A, product expansion and educating customers. In particular, we expect meaningful progress on the development of proof points to make a link between facility management, well-being and worker productivity, as well as educating customers on the benefits of an Internet of Things (IoT) offering.
