EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

At the global level there has been significant investment across renewables and on-site power generation over the past decade, supported by declining costs of the technology and growing interest in energy security. This report provides energy service providers, power generation specialists and facilities management firms with an up-to-date view of corporate deployment across 10 types of technology, globally, in 2016. Leveraging our 2016 global survey data that is based on interviews with 250 energy managers at $250 million-plus revenue firms, we provide an analysis on both the types of technology being deployed and the scale of investments. The analysis finds that, globally, on-site solar continues to be the most popular on-site power generation technology deployed, followed by gas combined heat and power (CHP). Deployment levels of solar generation are greater compared with previous surveys conducted in 2012 and 2014.
