The past five years have seen a significant number of mergers and acquisition deals within the energy management industry. This consolidation has been driven by multiple factors including tough market conditions, as well as utility strategies. This report helps investors, as well as CEOs and Heads of Strategy within the facility management, energy services and utilities sectors to understand which software firms are ripe for acquisition and the specific points that make them stand out. Our analysis is based on energy management functionality and market momentum, and specifically excludes analysis of income, balance sheet and cash flow statements. The time horizon for the analysis is two years, and so there are well-placed firms with strong solutions, such as Envizi and BuildingIQ, that are not included because their current strategies and recent investments mean that, on balance, they are more likely to become acquisition targets beyond this two-year horizon. The businesses highlighted in this report include six private and two public firms.
