Executive Summary

This report provides water executives, consultants, engineers and real estate professionals with a framework to support water management strategy formation, decision making and delivery. Firms involved at all the stages of the water value chain are under pressure to incorporate water management into sustainability strategies. Verdantix, in consultation with water experts, has segmented and analysed the water value chain to help executives tackle water management systematically. Verdantix has developed a framework for each segment, called water domains, that integrates the elements pertinent to water management in three categories: equipment, processes and management issues. This report puts the framework into practice, using the example of an office building. The framework supports executives as they implement water management strategies that aim to deliver operational, financial or ecosystem benefits by providing a consistent and holistic approach to strategy formation and delivery.
