EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This report provides sustainability leaders in market-facing and corporate executive roles with an independent analysis of the size and growth of expenditure in the French market on energy and carbon efficiency initiatives between 2010 and 2015. Quantifying sustainable business spend is a challenge as sustainability budgets are often dispersed across many business functions and are embedded in business-as-usual activities. The analysis finds that sustainable business expenditure on energy and carbon efficiency initiatives will grow from $1.4 billion in 2010 to reach $2.8 billion in 2015. In 2012 the industries with the highest spend on carbon and energy efficiency initiatives will be retail, telecommunications, technology, construction and materials, and utilities. Compound annual growth rates for spend across the five energy and carbon efficiency initiatives will vary from 7% to 18% over the five year forecast period.
