Executive Summary

Headquartered in Chicago, Sphera is the largest EHS software and product stewardship vendor by revenues and was created in July 2016 after Genstar Capital bought a portfolio of software assets from IHS. Sphera has announced the launch of the SpheraCloud platform. This is an EHS software platform, hosted in the cloud, which connects with Sphera’s core applications and for which customers pay a subscription fee. In 2018, customers adopting the SpheraCloud platform will primarily benefit from new user interfaces and new user experience tools including an offline mobile application. From 2018 through 2020, Sphera plans to replicate an increasing breadth and depth of the functionality of their legacy applications on SpheraCloud. This product strategy will enable existing customers to determine when they fully migrate their users from on premise apps to the new SpheraCloud platform. Customers need to develop their own roadmap for using SpheraCloud in the context of IT security policies, changing business requirements and competing products.
